On Physical Modeling of Lithium-Ion Cells and Adaptive Estimation of their State-of-Charge
Résumé
We address the problems of physical modeling and model-based adaptive observation of state-of-charge in lithium-ion batteries. The model is derived proceeding from electrochemical first principles. Two adaptive observers with guaranteed stability properties, under practically reasonable assumptions, are proposed. Simulations on a lithium iron-phosphate (LiFePo) cell to illustrate the advantages and limitations of the proposed observers are presented.
