SOCP approach for PAPR reduction using tone reservation for the future DBV-T/H standards
Résumé
High PAPR of OFDM signals is an important problem for DVB transmission. Due to the nonlinearity of the HPA, it can result in low power efficiency and performance degradation of the system. This paper presents the relevance of a tone reservation method with SOCP optimization approach for PAPR reduction, for the future DVB-T/H standards. A study of dedicated subcarriers power control is first presented. Simulation results show that without increasing the BER for a given SNR, this method reduces the PAPR significantly when only a small set of subcarriers is dedicated for PAPR reduction. Moreover, it presents a good trade-off between the PAPR reduction gain and the increase in mean transmitted power. Performance evaluation in the presence of a nonlinear HPA also demonstrates its relevance, when the gain in terms of IBO is evaluated assuming system constraints on spectral mask and MER performance respectively.
